Resin bound surfacing
The seamless, permeable, UV stable surface that made our name. Specified to depth, laid by specialists, in 31 stone blends.
Resin bound surfacing mixes clear UV stable resin with naturally rounded aggregates and trowels it over a prepared base. The result is one smooth, seamless surface with no joints to weed, no loose stones and no pooling water. It is the finish you see on quality villa drives, hotel entrances and pool decks across Dubai.
In the Gulf the sun does the testing. Low grade resin yellows, greys and goes chalky within a couple of summers. Ours is fully UV stable and keeps its colour in direct sun. The finish is also highly permeable, up to 850 litres per minute per square metre, so irrigation runoff and rain drain straight through instead of sitting on the surface.
We lay to specification, every time: 18 to 20 mm of resin bound stone over a 60 mm binder course and a 170 mm compacted sub-base. Skimp on any layer and you get sinking, rutting and cracking within the year. Our installs are RonaCrete approved, and in 2016 we completed a large resin surfacing contract at Euro Disney, Paris, for the Marriott Hotel Group.
The work
What we install
- Resin bound driveways, forecourts and carriage paths
- Garden paths, walkways and jogging tracks
- Patios, terraces and roof decks
- Pool surrounds, with textured anti slip finishes
- Tree pits and planted borders, fully permeable
- Edging sets, kerbs and block borders to frame the surface
The Gulf specifics
Built for the heat
Dubai tests surfaces three ways: UV, irrigation and ground movement. Our resin handles all three. It is fully UV compliant, so colours stay true instead of fading to grey. It is permeable, so daily irrigation and rare rain drain through at up to 850 litres per minute per square metre. And it is laid over a properly compacted sub-base in flexible layers that move with the ground rather than cracking.
Good to know
Questions we get asked.
Resin bound or resin bonded?
Resin bound mixes stone and resin together for a smooth, permeable, seamless finish. Resin bonded glues loose stone to the surface, which is rougher and sheds stones over time. For driveways and pool decks in Dubai we recommend resin bound.
Will it fade in the sun?
Not for a long time. Our resin is fully UV stable, and the blends use naturally coloured aggregates rather than dyed stone. Surfaces we laid in Europe years ago still hold their colour.
How do I look after it?
A sweep, an occasional pressure wash and a reseal every 2 to 4 years. No joints to weed, no sand to top up, no slabs to lift.
